Middle and Senior School Curriculum

The curriculum is designed and packaged in a manner that challenges students to ask questions, enhance skills, conduct in-depth research, analyse findings, build conceptual understanding, share their learning in a variety of ways that reflect on their responsibility as a part of the global community. Each child is supported to discover and fulfil his/her unique potential with a balanced, student friendly programme that nurtures the whole individual – mind, body and soul.

We design the curriculum broadly on the guidelines issued by C.B.S.E from time to time. Importance is given to Scholastic as well as Co-Scholastic domains with plans including mapping units with pedagogical objectives, assessment directives and feedback rubrics.

CLASSES VI-VIII

PART – 1

It consists of evaluation of Scholastic attainments which are reflected in the Performance Sheet in the form of Marks and Grades (9 point grading).There are two terms, the First term is from April-Sept. and the Second term is from October to March. Each term has a 50% weightage.

Periodic Assessment includes:

a) Pen paper test (weightage 5 marks) of maximum marks 25 for all subjects on a weekly basis as per the schedule given in the Almanac.
b) The average of two pen-paper Tests is reduced to a maximum of 5 marks.
c) Multiple assessments (weightage 5 marks)for all subjects are done on the day of the pen-paper test for that subject for a maximum of 10 marks. The details for it is discussed by the subject teachers in the class. The two assessments are reduced to a maximum of 5 marks.

Portfolio- (weightage 5 marks)

This includes:
a) Class Assessment, Assignments and reflectors / Journals/ Achievements/ Narration.
b) Two assignments of 20 marks each are done twice in a term.
c) The portfolio is assessed and compiled by the subject teachers twice in a Term.

Subject Enrichment Activities (weightage 5 marks)

These are subject-specific and are aimed at enrichment of the understanding and skill development. These are recorded once in each Term in Sep. and in Jan./Feb. by the subject teachers for a maximum of 20 marks. The average is calculated for 5 marks (i.e. 20 reduced to 5) These activities are as follows :

For Languages:

Activities conducted for subject enrichment in Languages w aim at equipping the learner to develop effective Speaking and Listening Skills (ASL)

For Mathematics: 

The listed Lab Activities and projects are conducted as per CBSE guidelines.

For Science: 

The listed Practical works/research in place of activities are conducted as per CBSE guidelines.

For Social Science:

Map, research and project are undertaken as per CBSE guidelines.

Half Yearly and Annual Exams are conducted in September and in March respectively for each subject for a maximum of 80 marks.Half Yearly Exams are conducted from all the topics covered in Term 1 for all classes. including multiple choice questions.

Annual Exams are conducted from the Cumulative Syllabus of Term 1 and Term 2

Part – 2

Co-Scholastic Areas:

Our school promotes Co-curricular activities for the holistic development of the student. These will be graded on a 3-point grading scale (A to C) and will be as follows :

a) Work Experience:

It is aimed to help students to participate in Social, Economic and Welfare Activities and make them self-reliant.
– SUPW
– IT Application

b) Art Education – Students are graded for :

– Performing Art (Music/Dance)
– Visual Art (Painting)

c) Health & Physical Education 

To create a sense of Physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, patriotism and health care. Students are graded for:
– Sports Activity (one option per Term from a range of options)
– Physical Education
– Yoga / Taekwondo

Part -3

Discipline – (Attendance, Sincerity, Behaviour & Values)

Discipline impacts career shaping and helps build character, sincerity, good behaviour and values, develops strength and foster unity and cooperation.

The class teacher in consultation with subject teachers, grades the students on a three-point scale (A-C).

CLASSES IX – X

Part – 1

a) Instead of pen-paper test 4 and multiple assessment / class IX students have Pre Annual Test for a maximum of 80 marks and the average is calculated.
b) Class X has the 2nd Term Exam in December (from cumulative syllabus) for a maximum of 80 marks. In addition, Pre-Board Exams are conducted in January from the entire syllabus. Streams are allotted on the basis of marks obtained in the Pre-Board Exams.

a) Work Experience:

 It is aimed to help students to participate in Social, Economic and Welfare Activities and make them self-reliant.

– SUPW – (refer to page 22 of Almanac for options for class X.)

– Information Technology(402), Vocational subject for class IX & X.

b) Art Education – Students are graded for :

– Performing Art (Music/Dance)
– Visual Art (Painting)

c) Health & Physical Education

To create a sense of Physical fitness, Discipline, sportsmanship, patriotism and health care. Students are graded for :

– Sports Activity (one option per Term from a range of options)
– Physical Education
– Yoga

Part -3

Discipline – (Attendance, Sincerity, Behaviour & Values)

Discipline impacts career shaping and helps build character, sincerity, good behaviour and values develop strength and foster unity and cooperation.

Class teachers/Subject teachers / Counsellor inculcate Life Skills (class X) and Value Education (class IX) and grade the students on a five-point scale (A-E).

CLASSES XI-XII

Promotion is granted on the basis of the whole year’s work of the student; hence regularity in attendance and work is imperative.
Promotion of the students at the end of the academic session : (Class XI) is as per CBSE bye-laws.

a) The academic session is divided into 2 terms – April to September and October to March. Each Term will have 50% weightage.
b) In the 1st Term 2 rounds of Monthly Tests, Assignments and half yearly exam are conducted.
c) In the 2nd Term 2 rounds of Monthly Test, 1 round of Pre Annual Exams, Assignments and Annual Exam are conducted.
For the holistic development of a student, besides Scholastic, Co-Scholastic areas are also assessed and grades are awarded accordingly. Details as given in the report card.

For Class XII-

2nd Term Examination is held in December.
Pre-Board Examination is held in January.
