Our emotional, psychological, and social well-being are all parts of our mental health. It influences our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Additionally, it influences how we respond to stress, interact with others, and make decisions.
BIPS believes mental health is crucial from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. If you have mental health issues, they may impact your thinking, mood, and behavior throughout your life.
Why Do Students Have Mental Illness?
There are many causes for students’ poor mental health.
- Peer Relations
- Family Problems
- Toxic Interactions
- Sleep Deprivation
- Poor Diet
- Lack of Exercise
Students are typically overwhelmed with coursework and tasks in most circumstances. Their mental health will undoubtedly suffer due to the stress this produces.
However, some students have a strong sense of competition and occasionally try to outdo everyone else. As a result, they would experience pressure to perform well academically, even at the sacrifice of their friends or skipping an assignment.
Due to elevated stress levels, such students frequently experience depression. Finally, it is typical for students to feel unworthy after a test failure or a loss in a competition. Since most teenagers experience this phase while still in high school, it can also cause them to become depressed.
How Can Students' Mental Health Be Improved?
BIPS is devoted to safeguarding our students’ mental health. Given the causes mentioned above of mental illness, here are some suggestions on how we support our students:
First, giving students the courage to speak up without fear of punishment.
- Second, encourage them to feel good about themselves by reminding them of their unique qualities.
- Third, encourage kids to engage in activities.
- Teach the value of healthy eating, and it goes beyond only weight loss and athletic preparation. Eating well supports both physical and mental wellness!
Children’s mental health needs are well-served at BIPS. A supportive setting that encourages students to express themselves.
It enables kids to handle stress and engage in physical activity while increasing their confidence. We sincerely believe that such a setting can produce more creative and innovative students.
Parents And Teachers Should Be Included In The Learning Process
Different view points are brought to the table by parents and teachers. Our teachers work closely with each child for a significant amount of time, so they know their abilities and areas for improvement.
Parents have to observe their kids in various situations where teachers cannot. Therefore, we think the collaboration between parents and teachers is crucial. Together, they can assist students in having pleasant educational experiences and acquiring the abilities necessary to excel in school and life.
Conclusion: Overall Well-Being Depends On Mental Health
An individual’s complete well-being depends on their mental health, which can also help them succeed in life. It can assist students in building and maintaining solid interpersonal relationships and a general sense of contentment. In addition, they can better manage the stresses and demands of daily life when they are in good mental health.
Teachers at BIPS notice when students are not feeling their best; they may be sad, lonely, frustrated, or generally disappointed with life. So while many schools in Patiala miss out on something important when they ignore student mental health, teachers at BIPS do.
